Beginner Sourdough Workshop

Every baker at Souldough and The Sourdough Society is self-taught. No culinary school, no professional training. Just a lot of time, a lot of failed loaves, and eventually figuring it out. We run this class because we genuinely believe anyone can make good bread at home and we want to show you that you can too.

If you have ever wanted to bake real sourdough but did not know where to start, or tried before and could not figure out what went wrong, this is the class for you. We do not just hand you a recipe and walk you through the steps. We help you understand what is actually happening in the dough so that when you get home and bake on your own, you know what you are doing and why.

In this 3-hour session hosted by The Souldough Bakery Co., you will:

  • Understand your starter: what it is, how it works, and how to keep it alive at home without overcomplicating it.

  • Get your hands in the dough: mixing, stretch and folds, and learning to read the dough by feel rather than just by the clock.

  • See bulk fermentation in action: we work with dough at different stages so you can see and feel the difference, not just hear about it.

  • Shape and score a loaf: you will shape and score a properly fermented dough and put it in the oven yourself.

  • Leave with a full baking plan: you will know exactly what to do when you get home, including how to cold proof your dough overnight and bake it the next morning.

This workshop is for you if:

  • Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours

  • Location: The Sourdough Society Studio, Discovery Bay, Hong Kong

  • Class size: Maximum 6 people

  • Price: HK$980 per person. Early bird HK$880 when you book 2 or more weeks ahead.

  • Private sessions available: HK$1,750 for 2 people, HK$1,000 per additional person up to 6. (Full studio booking of 6 people works out to HK$1,250 each)
